Monica Santillana

Civil Engineering
Monica Santillana is currently employed as a Civil Engineering student intern at the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), working this summer as an engineering technician in the El Paso. Monica is working in the district laboratory where she has developed hands on experience on soil sampling. Working alongside experienced civil engineers, Monica has outgrown her transportation interest.
Monica is an active member of the Transportation Leadership Council (TLC) at UTEP, currently serving as the vice-president.
Helena Mascorro

Civil Engineering
Helena Mascorro is currently employed as a Civil Engineering student intern at the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), working this summer as an engineering technician in El Paso. Helena is working in the district laboratory performing various tests on soils and asphalt to verify it meets current TxDOT specifications. Her motivation for transportation engineering is to assure the safety and longevity of the roads in Texas.
Helena is an active student member of the Transportation Leadership Council (TLC) at UTEP.
Alberto Y. Valverde

Alberto Y. Valverde is currently employed as a Civil Engineering student intern at the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), working this summer as an engineering technician in El Paso. Alberto assist in the inspection of roadway projects while promoting a safe work environment. He also samples testing materials such as concrete, hot mix asphalt, and soils.
Alberto is an active student member of the Transportation Leadership Council (TLC) at UTEP.
Ramses Leon

Ramses Leon is currently employed as a Civil Engineering student intern at the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), working this summer as an engineering technician in El Paso. Ramses assist construction inspectors and engineering managers on assuring the organization of a project and standards are met. Working alongside and inspector he has the opportunity to oversee project that include bridges, pavements, exit and on ramps. Through his work efforts, it is anticipated to reduce traffic congestion and traveling times for the local community.
