Abstract
The aviation industry is a large and diverse field that offers a wide range of career opportunities while also providing benefits that extend far beyond its traditional boundaries. In this webinar, we will explore aviation from the perspective of a pilot and educator, highlighting how the industry can shape individuals and connect communities. The discussion will touch on the broader opportunities within general aviation, including how it can contribute to public service, safety, and support for communities. We will also introduce the growing role of emerging technologies, such as drones, and the importance of their safe integration into the National Airspace System (NAS). Overall, this webinar will emphasize how aviation serves not only as a career path but as a meaningful way to make a positive impact on society.
Bio
Lucero Duran Trinidad is the Chief Flight Instructor at the School of Aviation and Transportation Technology’s Professional Flight Program at Purdue University. There she oversees flight training operations and helps shape the next generation of aviation professionals. Her work is centered on aviation safety and flight education, with a focus on developing well-rounded aviators who demonstrate not only technical skill, but strong decision-making and professionalism. She is also dedicated to supporting and mentoring instructional staff as they begin their careers, guiding them as they develop as educators while completing their own academic pursuits.
Mrs. Duran Trinidad earned her B.S. in Aviation Technology – Professional Flight and M.S. in Aviation and Aerospace Management – Aviation Human Factors, both from Purdue University. She began her career in 2015 as a flight instructor at Purdue, advancing through a range of instructional and leadership roles. Along the way, she has contributed to the program’s Safety Team in leadership capacities, represented the program at various aviation conferences, and served as both an instructor and lead for the Able Flight Program while at Purdue, supporting inclusive flight training initiatives.
